About ISTU

The rapidly expanding interest in application of therapeutic ultrasound, both in the research environment and in clinical practice has led to the creator of a number of groups in the world who work on these problems. In order to intergrade and provide a method and to promote worldwide collaborations, Intentional Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU) was founded in May 2001.

The purposes of the ISTU are scientific and educational. Its aims are: to encourage research in the therapeutic ultrasound; to promote international cooperation in the field; to disseminate scientific information.

In pursuit of these aims the ISTU may, in relation to its specific field of interest, engage in the following activities: sponsorship of meetings; cooperation with other societies and organizations for specific interests; awarding of prizes and distinctions.

It may promote the formation of national or regional societies or groups, co-ordinate bibliographic and information services and improve standards in terminology, equipment, safe practice, application of therapeutic ultrasound, and shall generally promote improved communication and understanding amongst these who use therapeutic ultrasound in the world.
